LEHIGH VALLEY AMATEUR TOURNAMENT - Green Pond Country Club
Thursday's opening-round matches of the 81st Lehigh Valley Amateur at Green Pond Country Club will feature five past tournament champions, 15 golfers who have won regional major amateur golf tournaments, and some interesting matchups. Jordan Barker, a year-old Liberty High School freshman, will again be at the center of attention. Last year, when he was 13, Barker became the youngest golfer in tournament history to qualify for the championship flight. Large galleries followed Barker through his three-victory march to the quarterfinals.
LEHIGH VALLEY AMATEUR TOURNAMENT
Although Jason Wilson of South Whitehall Township will not be in the field for the season opener, he will make his season debut the following two days at the Pennsylvania Golf Association's 78th George Dressler event in York. Wilson, 44, is coming off a banner campaign, which saw him win the Pennsylvania Middle-Amateur Championship, and the Lehigh Valley Medal Play title. It's a special piece of property. Since they redesigned it, they have hosted a US Mid-Amateur round. The conditions are always superb.
